About Jay Mistry

Industry veteran Jay Mistry has spent the last 30 years in the music industry and for most of that time he has excelled in music rights and publishing.

His first foray in the industry was at PRSfm where he trained as a royalty clerk working in their International division. In 1994, he was approached by BMG Music Publishing Ltd to spearhead a relatively new part of the industry called royalty tracking.

After a very successful nine years at BMG, Jay started up his own company called Musical Sleuth Ltd where his skills as a forensic royalty accountant landed him clients such as Eric Clapton, Roger Whittaker, Eddy Grant and Daniel Beddingfield. He also spent large periods of time working for other publishers including EMI, Bug, Peer and Universal.

In 2008, Jay was offered the role of Director of Global Music Services at US based network Discovery Channel where the remit was to increase international income for their music division through concluding worldwide sub-publishing deals.

His success at Discovery was noticed by up and coming licencing specialists and music library Jingle Punks LLC who in 2013 poached Jay to lead their music publishing team and to again create new revenue streams outside of the US. 

In 2015, Jay started his new venture, JM Consultancy.
